Fotografia analogica a cura dell’associazione Melagrana

FIRST LEG

Gruppo Sinestetico
August 8th - September 23rd 2011

MACC Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Calasetta (CI) Sardinia Italy
by Erica Olmetto

Opening: Monday August 8th 2011 at 7.30 pm

The first appointment of the Contemporary art review Gesto Segno Disegno (Gesture Sign drawing), opens on Monday August 8th at 7.30 pm at MACC Museum of Contemporary Art in Calasetta. The event, sponsored by the Commune of Calasetta with a support by Provincial administration of Carbonia Iglesias (Assessorship for Tourism, Events and Sports), has been carried out by and organized by Sèmata Cooperative Society and by the Cultural association Dehe.Art. The exhibition project, edited by Erica Olmetto, consists of a series of contemporary art events that will take up, as a first leg, the premises of MACC (Museum of Contemporary arts of Calasetta) starting from August 8th, 2011.

In the context of the exhibition that will open the Contemporary art review from August, 8th to September, 23rd, the sculptural and pictorial works by the artist Maria Franca Tronci from Oristano and the video and photo works by the Gruppo Sinestetico will be proposed from the point of view of a comparison among artists coming from different artistic origins and experiences. The aim of the project, in fact, consists in integrating different levels of knowledge and research among the artists taking part to the event, according to the subject of the review, concentrating on three essential elements in visual arts: the gesture, the sign and the creativity of drawing. Of fundamental importance the concretist lesson by the master Ermanno Leinardi and his permanent collection, housed into the well-known municipal museum in Calasetta, and the space devoted to him, a starting point for a new artistic approach and a term of an ideal comparison with the important artistic offers scheduled, non at random, clearly related to the Museum that will house them during the review.

On August 11th and 12th at 7 p.m. at the Museum in Calasetta, two conferences on contemporary art will be held:

Gesture sign drawing: the collection of the Municipal Museum of Contemporary arts of Calasetta by di Erica Olmetto

Contemporary art through its expressive forms by Erica Olmetto and Federico Cozzucoli
Furthermore, during the review, it will be possible to attend some didactic laboratories to gain a deeper comprehension of the main principles leading the artistical experience:

Gesture sign drawing by Sémata - Federico Cozzucoli

Watercolour: the colour and the shape by Sémata - Federico Cozzucoli

Watercolour en plain air by Sémata - Federico Cozzucoli

Let’s draw our self portrait by Sémata - Federico Cozzucoli

Tempera grassa: Gesture sign drawing by Luca Imperiali

Analogic photography by Melagrana association

Excerpt from Erica Olmetto’s text:

“In this first appointment two artistic identities that are quite different both on language and artistic education will be put on comparison: Maria Franca Tronci, original from the area of Oristano, where she lives and works, shows a long and documented experience in visual arts, in particular painting and sculpture. For Gesture Sign Drawing she proposed an installation project about the troubled and significant vicissitudes of work in the mines, Il treno del silenzio [The Train of Silence], where she points out the analogy between life and the hard miner’s work. Life, seen also as artistic experience, lived in simplicity, humility and sacrifice, in the desperate inner search for the origin of one’s own existence and the next future, identifies itself with the past and intersects with the life of the miner, who emulates the inner search process digging in the ground to find precious goods. The project for a performance proposed by the Gruppo Sinestetico (Albertin, Sassu, Scordo), entitled Homage to Joseph Beuys, is made up of a video and a sequence of photos taken by the performance inspired precisely by the utopian ideal proposed by Beuys, according to whom man lives in his own environment perfectly integrated with nature to which he offers his protection to guarantee solidarity and free cooperation with the other men belonging to the different cultures and religions. Clearly in line with the synaesthesia-besed views of the Group, the action consists of introducing the man’s head together with the plant’s root, through a process of synaesthesia where the protective gesture of the man who sacrifices himself to get the earth ready to the plant’s entry”.
